About Us
Welcome to Demystified, an inclusive online space where women of all backgrounds and perspectives can share their knowledge and stories in hopes of informing, inspiring, and empowering others. Even today, despite the advances we've made, there are still so many mystifying and stigmatized topics when it comes to women's lives. Our hope is to leave judgment at the door and tackle these issues with honesty, clarity, and maybe even some humor. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
Our Story
Demystified was founded by Samantha and Julia, two women who met at a planning meeting for PPNYC’s Sex Education Group. We were struck by the group’s annual “Demystifying Abortion” event, in which a panel of women and abortion providers openly share information and personal stories about abortion. We realized this approach could extend to many areas of women’s lives—specifically those that many of us experience but aren’t always given the space to talk about.
Julia Bartz
Co-Founder & Feminist
Julia is a Brooklyn-based writer, yoga instructor, and MSW candidate at Hunter College's Silberman School of Social Work. She is on the Activist Council for PPNYC and mentors high schools girls though iMentor.
Samantha Langdorf
Co-Founder & Feminist
Samantha is the Director of Strategy for Briteweb. She serves on the Board of Advisors for Feminist.com and is a volunteer with the Activist Council for Planned Parenthood NYC.
